2008 Walk for Children: Volunteering

The 2008 Walk for Children needs individuals, clubs, and organizations to lend their time and talents to help prevent child abuse. Volunteering is a great way to participate, and you’ll receive a Walk for Children T-shirt for your important contribution. Call 1-800-CHILDREN for more information about how you can take an extra step for children and families in your community.

Volunteer duties at the walk include:

  • Set up the walk site—unload materials, post signs, set up tables, decorate staging area
  • Register walkers
  • Pass out T-shirts
  • Assist with the children's arts and crafts
  • Assist the photographer in directing team photos
  • Staff check points along the route
  • Pass out refreshments and snacks
  • Volunteer entertainment (clowns, magicians, etc.)
  • Tear down equipment and load into vehicles
  • Clean up trash
