Reverend Alfonso Wyatt When Children Cry Who Will Listen? The Rev. Alfonso Wyatt has traveled the country with a message of hope to motivate individuals, communities of faith and members of private and public institutions addressing the plight of children, youth, young adults and families. His words, spoken from the heart, encourages frontline troops and strategist to stay on the battlefield and keep on keeping on. He has mentored three generations of youth developers and professionals; passing time earned techniques to teach, reach and nurture young people and adults. His 35+ years of service in the field allows him to pull stories, metaphors delivered in a passionate, and at times humorous style that finds a good place in the hearts and minds of the listening audience. Alfonso Wyatt states that it is time for the field to unite and turn decades of moving into a movement. Alfonso Wyatt joined the Fund for the City of New York to continue over three decades of service to youth, youth serving agencies, families and the broader community. Prior to joining the Fund, Alfonso worked as a high school teacher, advocate, counselor and administrator. He has worked as a counselor, youth advocate, educator, program developer, administrator, and national public speaker. Alfonso Wyatt has developed innovative initiatives that respond to the needs of young people in foster care, institutional settings, public schools, employment/training programs and faith-based projects. He has trained and mentored three generations of dynamic youth workers and leaders on techniques to effectively teach, reach and nurture young people. He has received numerous awards and accolades from his peers, mass media, civic groups, and faith community. Alfonso Wyatt attended Howard University, Columbia’s Teacher’s College, The Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy, Columbia Institute for Non Profit Management, and New York Theological Seminary. He is an advisor to government, foundations, religious institutions, universities, youth-serving organizations and non-profits in New York and around the nation. He serves as a board member and advisor to organizations that address progressive social policy issues. He is a Trustee with The 21st Century Foundation, an organization that advances philanthropy in the African American community. Alfonso Wyatt is an ordained minister on the staff of The Greater Allen Cathedral of New York. |
